Our areas of responsibility

Paying attention to the entire supply chain

Kemofarmacija employees work on a daily basis to ensure that medicines reach the patient undamaged. They are mindful of the need to handle medicines with care, store and transport them at the right temperature, and check expiry dates regularly. Since medicines must be disposed of as hazardous waste once the packaging is damaged or the expiry date has passed, the careful handling of medicines helps to reduce waste and, in doing so, protects the environment.

Acting responsibly throughout the entire value chain is the foundation of our success. Our compliance principles provide guidance on responsible and compliant behaviour. In our Policy statement on human rights and our Code of Conduct our expectation towards all employees to respect human rights is clearly defined. The Local Human Rights Officer, in collaboration with the Corporate Human Rights Officer, assesses risks to people and the environment within our supply chains and continuously improves our risk assessment and prevention processes. Suspected cases can be reported through a web-based reporting system.

We seek dialogue with our business partners and expect them, too, to operate responsibly. We assess new business partners against sustainability criteria and summarize our expectations in our Supplier Code of Conduct.

Treating the environment and resources responsibly

We are constantly striving to minimise our environmental impact as far as possible. Specifically, we are already working to reduce the emissions generated by the operation of our buildings and by transport. We are also exploring opportunities to prevent waste and recycle materials.

In 2023, we adopted our first climate target for the PHOENIX group. In July 2026, we adjusted our target in line with updated requirements and calculation methods for science-based climate targets. Our goal is to reduce emissions within our own business operations by 37.8 per cent by 2030, compared with the base financial year 2021/22. We intend to achieve this primarily through energy efficiency measures, such as the expansion of heat pumps, the purchase of green electricity and the generation of our own electricity, for example, via solar panels, and a gradual transition of our transport fleets, for instance through increased use of electric vehicles.

In dialogue with our employees and society

Getting better together every day: We believe that the only way to shape our future successfully is to work together with our employees as equals. Our mission, our values and behaviours, and our PHOENIX group Code of Conduct form the basis of our trusting working relationship.

In addition, our employee app Speakap, intranet, digital signage system and employee surveys are important tools for engaging with our employees. Getting a little better every day – for Kemofarmacija, this also means offering talented individuals interesting career and training opportunities and ensuring a working environment that promotes good health.

Furthermore, we aim to play an active role in society. To this end, we have published a social commitment guideline.
